Getting back in the saddle….

It’s been a while since I’ve sat down to write a blog post – well, to be honest, I’ve written a few but then deleted them.  The pressure of the new year and new decade having to be epic threw my off my game.  When we were working on modifying our 1975 GMC Eleganza motorhome it was so easy to write about what we were doing and what it meant to us.  When the new year came and the RV was essentially ‘done’ I felt like we were on a holding pattern – we won’t be hitting the road fulltime for three more years so what was there to say?  Then yesterday I read an Instagram post from #embracingdetours which really summed up how I was feeling.  They wrote that they had been away from social media for a while because, essentially, they felt it needed to be all or nothing.

I had let myself I forgot how much I like to write and it doesn’t have to be about a journey of self discovery and passionate plans.  So I am joining #embracingdetours and renewing my daily writing.  I will commit, to myself, to write for 21 days – even if it’s just ‘hey, I went to work today and finished everything that was on my desk’.  I also want to get back to photography, I’ve been taking photos and studying photography before cellphones.  In the old days you were very choosy about the photos you took and framed everything before hand, because film was expensive and developing was even worse.  I am going to get back on YouTube and remind myself how to best use my Nikon digital camera – I’m not going back so far as to have FILM in the camera, I like a fancy new SD card!

So I’m off and running… Here is to day 1.  If you want to join the ride and ask yourself the question that #embracingdetours posted:  What habits have you been wanting to form? If you’re anything like me, that list is endless (please tell me I’m not alone here). Your habit will be uniquely yours, but whatever that ‘thing’ is you’ve been procrastinating getting started on, I hope you’ll join me in this experiment. For the next 3 weeks, use my posts as a gentle reminder to stop and do your thing and maybe, hopefully, we can all get a little better together! . If you decide to join in, I’d love to see who you are and what habits you’re forming! #EmbracingDetours #EmbracingNewHabits so I can follow along, and maybe we can all be a support system for one another. .
