Mastering the Bed Picnic

We’ve always appreciated a good bed picnic. When traveling to new cities or countries we like to eat a bit of everything that the area is known for. By the end of the day we have tried bites of this and forks-full of that and there are always plenty of leftovers to take back to the hotel or ship cabin for dinner. Gotta say I was watching a Youtube Video this week and this couples version of a ‘bed picnic’ was setting all the plates from room service on the floor carpet, yikes. I was feeling much better about our version of putting a clean towel on the bed and spreading out the meal.

I decided to have a Bed Picnic birthday dinner for our youngest this week. Luckily the gifts were ‘soft’, a new Adidas hoody and Adidas pants, so they could act as decorator pillows on the dining room table that was made to resemble a bed. We didn’t want to go all Willie Wonka and actually use our bed. I picked up a variety of things for dinner like sushi from Metropolitan Market, a few Taco Time crisp beef burritos and some Jack in the Box favorites. It was an easy meal and enough to send home and/or have for lunch the next day and it did reflect a travel day with the mix match of food. He is a Coca Cola fan and we found this napkin dispenser at a garage sale a few weeks ago, it made a perfect holder for cash towards concert tickets of his choosing.

While we won’t need these on our upcoming cruise to Alaska – though we see a few bed picnic options whether from room service, treats we bring back from port or a visit to the Ovation of the Seas’ Windjammer and getting olives, cheese and meats or something from Fish and Ships – they are in the vacation packing basket to use on a combination land/sea trip we have planned for next year. While we enjoy a good bed picnic, we aren’t animals, we do use utensils to eat!!
