This past weekend we attended our nieces high school graduation party and had an opportunity to introduce/reintroduce ourselves to those that will be on the family cruise to Alaska (it’s complicated!). I was worried that I’d use up what little small talk I have left in my repertoire but was quickly assured that this is a lively group with no lack of conversation – and karaoke skills to cheer on. We were able to find out if people were getting gussied up or more resort casual, I think we all agreed on the latter.
Part of my cruise preparation is keeping a jar of change for the casino. I don’t like losing, period, but certainly don’t like losing ‘house money’! Love playing a low minimum roulette table and always putting something on 22.
We’ve been to Alaska a few times, it’s essentially the only cruise we can go on without having to include airfare. On this upcoming trip the only port we haven’t visited is Sitka but it looks like unless you are paying for a ship excursion the only way to get to town is via shuttle and there can be an hour wait depending on how many ships are sharing the shuttle and even longer wait getting back on board. There is a salt shop I was hoping to visit but I may be able to support that small business by ordering online! We are looking forward to staying on board and using the Arcade Pass we pre-purchased at a 25% discount. A few games of air hockey or skeeball sounds like fun followed by a stop at the on board ‘Food Truck’, Seaplex Dog House, for a hot dog with sauerkraut and mustard (my favorite way to have it).
Enjoying the gym, walking around the promenade deck, a game of mini golf or spending time in the pool or hot tubs without the crowd you would have on a seaday is a relaxing way to spend the day and feel like you are on your own private yacht. We are grateful for this trip and are looking forward to seeing the wildlife, visiting with family and enjoying some quiet down time, in no particular order.
